Dragon Gate
Here Be Beasties . . .
Bushy Park Ironworks we’re initially commissioned by an English architect to forge a staircase balustrade for a private house in the UK. Shortly after approving the designs, our clients extended the project to include a request for a focal point for their formal gardens.
Our clients were celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary and wished to mark the special occasion with an original piece befitting such a mile stone. On becoming aware that their wedding had taken place in the Natural History Museum in London, this became the jumping off point in the creative process. Initial ideas that came to the fore included dinosaurs and other fossils; this in turn led us to the root of the word Dinosaur meaning ‘Terrible Lizard’.
Their dragon was born!
A mythical creature of strength, grace of flight, guardianship and inspiration, indeed a most suitable guardian for their private haven and the next twenty years of marriage…
